| The Arts Council is spearheading the ongoing restoration of what was known as the Olde Cannery Arts Center, which is located at 61 Enotah St. Dahlonega, Georgia, next to the Old Jail. Originally constructed by the WPC in the 1940's, the building was first used as a community cannery, then as a Thrift Store. When the Thrift Store moved out, this historic building was about to be used for storage, then in 2003 the Dahlonega Arts Council took responsibility for the structure, and with the cooperation of Steve Gooch, Lumpkin County Commissioner, and guidance from the Lumpkin County Historical Society has begun to renovate the building. There is yet more to be done to complete the transformation into The Olde Cannery Art Gallery. a multi-purpose home of the arts and event venue - contact us to learn how you can help, with a donation of cash, materials or labor! |
